Mini Career Fair Introduces Students to Investment Adviser Community

February 16, 2023

More than 170 students registered for the February 9 Questrom-IAA Jam, a collaborative effort between Boston University’s Questrom School of Business and the Investment Adviser Association. Conceived in response to member input regarding recruiting challenges in the current environment, the event was part of the IAA’s goal of supporting advisory firms in the business practices that underpin the management and smooth functioning of their firms.

During the two-hour event, graciously hosted by the university, students met with representatives of the local IAA member community to hear firsthand about the many and diverse career opportunities the advisory industry offers.

We were pleased to welcome students from every level at Questrom — from freshman through MBA and specialty masters’ programs — as well as a varied group of IAA member firms. In addition to a great spread of pizza and sandwiches, the event “menu” included a taste of jobs with large global asset managers, boutique investment shops, high-net-worth firms, and others, representing an array of client types, investment approaches and vehicles. Students were encouraged to visit the IAA’s career center, where candidates can sign up for free job alerts and IAA members can post openings at no cost and access recruiting resources.

Thank you to the IAA members who participated in this inaugural event, to Boston University for hosting, and to the students who attended to learn more about opportunities in the industry. For additional information about our business practices programming or to submit ideas or topics for future focus, please contact IAA Vice President, Business Practices, Nancy Hancock at nancy.hancock@investmentadviser.org.
