The IAA discussed the need for the 2020 GIPS Standards to be as streamlined as possible, and expressed concerns regarding the scope of the proposal, particularly about the proposed treatment of limited distribution pooled funds.
The IAA raised several concerns about the Exposure Draft, including that the proposed guidance is too prescriptive and includes vague definitions. The IAA also outlined principles to guide consideration of the draft.
The IAA recommended several overarching principles to guide the GIPS 20/20 Exposure Draft, including a careful review of costs and benefits, and the need for flexibility, simplification, and a sufficient transition time. The IAA also provided feedback on proposed changes discussed in the paper.
